LISA TERRELL

Counselor 

Mrs. Terrell is the Counselor for students in the 12th grade. She has been with Bonner Springs High School since 1995 and a counselor since 1998. She taught Physical Education and Health before she began counseling. She also coached high school volleyball, softball, and Dance Team for many years, as well as coached softball at KCKCC.  Mrs. Terrell earned her B.S. in Physical Education from Pittsburg State University, while playing Softball, and her M.S. in School Counseling in 2000 from Emporia State University.  She is married with three children and one grandson.  Mrs. Terrell is a Bonner Springs High School graduate and all three of her boys graduated from BSHS.  She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, boating, UTV riding, gardening, exercising, and traveling.  She loves a new adventure.  Her favorite quote is  "Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain"

MARIAH SPENCER

Counselor

Mrs. Spencer is the Counselor for students in grades 9-11 with last names beginning with A-K. She taught high school Social Studies for four years before earning her Master's degree in School Counseling from Emporia State University. She joined the counseling team at BSHS in 2018. Mrs. Spencer is a traveler, reader, baker, gardener, and strives to be a life long learner.

TYLER MCMAHAN

Counselor 

Mr. McMahan is the Counselor for students in grades 9-11 with last names beginning with L-Z. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in History Education from MidAmerica Nazarene University and taught at Bonner Springs High School for five years before earning his Master of Science degree in Counseling & Student Development from Kansas State University. He was a counselor in the Olathe Public Schools for a year before returning to BSHS. Mr. McMahan is also a Bonner Springs High School graduate and is proud to call BSHS his home. He enjoys traveling; during his time as a teacher, he led an EF tour to Europe. He has also spent time in service volunteering on local boards in the Bonner Springs community. He believes that relationships are key to success and that we must meet the social and emotional needs of those around us.

DENISE CHOWNING

Special Education Social Worker

Ms. Chowning has been a special education school social worker for Bonner Springs High School since 2009 and is also a social worker at Clark Middle School. She received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the University of Kansas. She currently has her Clinical License in the state of Kansas (LSCSW). Ms. Chowning is also an assistant volleyball coach at BSHS, sponsor of Friendship Group at CMS and BSHS, and coach for Unified Soccer, Bocce Ball, and Basketball at CMS and BSHS.

EMMA STIRLING

Social Worker

Mrs. Stirling is the General Education Social Worker at BSHS and CMS. She received her Bachelor's degree in Social Work from Kansas State University in 2015 and her Master's degree in Social Work from University of Kansas in 2021. Mrs. Stirling enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and the outdoors! Mrs. Stirling will also be coaching 7th grade volleyball at CMS this year.

MIKE LEWIS

Registrar

Mr. Lewis began working for USD 204 in 2009 and has served in multiple positions. He was a Special Education para at CMS, ISS coordinator at CMS and BSHS, and started as the high school Registrar in 2018.  Mr. Lewis also coached middle school cross country and track for 8 years, high school track for 2 years, and has been the head high school cross country coach for 2 years.

Mrs. Snyder is a Kansas City, KS native, growing up just east of Edwardsville, KS. Mrs. Snyder has a background in public service and juvenile justice having achieved her Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish and Criminology from Benedictine College in Atchison, KS in 2013. Following her work in juvenile justice, Mrs. Snyder began a graduate program of study in pursuit of a Master of Arts degree in School Counseling from the University of St. Mary. Because of Mrs. Snyder's education and professional background, she believes education can be a pathway to future success and can help all people to overcome difficult circumstances. Mrs. Snyder is thrilled to be serving students and families through this role at Bonner Springs High School and is excited to help students consider their future and develop action plans to achieve their goals. Mrs. Snyder enjoys cooking, singing, and spending time with her family and dog.
